Ambidexterity?

What is the usual pattern of development of ambidexterity? I mean, I think I'm ambidextrous, but my left hand is only just now coming back after years of disuse, if I recall correctly. I may have never before used it more than my right hand. Basically, if I used it consistently when I was very young, I stopped because of pressure of teachers and family, learned how to use my right more, and have finally started to use it again. Am I really ambidextrous, or did I just happen to be able to teach myself to write and use both hands equally?

Answer:
you taught your self and now you are
If you can use both hands equally well upon getting the unused hand up to speed, then you are likely ambidextrious. This is an indicator that you are using both sides of the brain in an equal manner.
I believe ambidexterity is an acquired skill and there are different levels of ambidexterity.
When you write with your left hand, does the handwriting appear similar to your right hand, or completely legible, but a different style or what?
People naturally tend to favor one hand over the other. Most people favor their right, but some their left. Some individuals have specifically trained their children to favor their right hand even though the child favors their left. This isn't necessarily bad, but just goes against that child's natural tendency. It can be useful to have your right hand be more dominant because many things in our culture are 'right hand biased.' Other than this it doesn't really matter. Hope that helps.
Ambidexterity is just a lie spread by the church to get more people to come on Sundays,
