Is anybody constantly depressed?
Answer:
I used to be and I know what it is like to have cloudy days every day.
I used to take meds every day for four years, but meds don't solve the problem. In fact, they made it worse because I stopped exercising and starting eating more (The meds made me tired). I went from my usual 225-240 pounds to 270-280. Suffice to say that made things a lot worse.
After struggling at my new weight for two years, I did a lot of research into the meds after that. Many people said that they had also gained weight with the same medication I used. I finally realized that I didn't need the meds. I stopped taking them. I starting running, eating healthier, and stopped drinking alcohol.
I also met a very wonderful, spiritual person who changed my life.
My clouds finally started to clear away.
Now, I treat an attack of depression the same as a stomachache or headache: as a physical sensation that comes and goes, but that can be dealt with.
Then, when I was depressed, I would close my blinds, eat a pack of oreos, drink a 40 oz. of beer, and curse the day I was born.
Now, when I start to feel depression, I get up, start moving. I start cleaning or something. I try not to stay in bed past 8 AM. I do anything to drive off that feeling.
So yes, it can go away, but you have to be informed, and you have to be proactive in finding a solution. The doctors and psychiatrists cannot "cure" you, but a change in lifestyle can.
I wish I had an answer for you because I battle it every day.
It s a state of mind. YOu are in control. You decide if you want to be depressed or not!.
ITs ok to feel sad once in a a while. But for long term its not good for you . Remember that!
So take control of yourself and say : I won';t be depressed today.
Make plans, goals for every single day (ok except sunday - lazy day). Accomplish your plan!
Remember:
Its a state of mind. and its your mind ! You are in control of it..
You just might need some inspiration. Then get angry, that helps. Getting over depression takes time, that's all. Go out with friends, that helps too.
When you are constantly depressed (like I have been) you need to see your doctor. Mine is currently "situational" depression. It has been going on for two years. I was on medication but since the situation doesn't change, the medicine doesn't help much. I know when I get this "situation" resolved, I will feel better.
Previously, I had clinical depression (depressed, but there's no real reason...it's a chemical imbalance in your brain). The medicine worked very well at that time. It can make you so miserable. Please see your doctor.
I agree with Me-The Girl to a point. After years of fighting it, I do believe that chemical imblances in the brain can lead to depression. That's not the only cause for it, though, and I think more people suffer from depression because something is missing or just wrong in their lives. Thinking positively and doing positive things is going to help your state of mind. I think that's why more people need to talk about how they feel, because it helps get to the source of the problem. Drugs, even prescription drugs, can lead to more trouble and never really solve the problem. In my opinion. :)
For the longest time I never left my bedroom. I cut off from all my friends. Then After months of spending time alone and losing a lot of weight, I decided I needed to change. And it was so hard, and it took another couple of months, but I pulled through. There are still days when I feel as if I can slip back into it, but I use those as an opportunity to do something important.
Do you want it to go away?
Do something nice for someone.
Give someone a compliment.
Go visit some lonely person.
Take them some soup.
If you help others it may help.
You would be surprised how good you feel when you do something good for someone.
It's the swamp gas lit up by Venus and being bounced off that weather balloon. Either that or a case of demon possession. Happens all the time.
