Question.?

I was wondering what those.ink blobs are that people use in therapy sometimes. You see whatever you want to see...does anyone know what they are called?

Answer:
Its called a Rorschach inkblot test. It is supposed to help define emotional and personality characteristics of a person. If they place electrodes on the head when this is performed they can also determine which part of the brain you are using the most when you look at the picture.
they are called ink blots.

Yep. Like someone else said, it's called a Rorschach test (I think it was invented by Herman Rorschach, maybe in the 1930's or so.) Although it's true that you see "whatever you want to see", what you think you see can be indicative of cognitive ability, creativity, or preoccupation. Like do you see one whole think ("a butterfly") or do you think "Well, this part looks like a dragonfly but then on the sides, I see a vase with flowers" or does every picture have some kind of sexual meaning? So it's not just what you mainly see; it's also the little details. Oh yeah, and also, is it just totally off-base (like NO ONE else in the world would ever see that...) I've never heard of people being hooked up to EEG's or MRI's or anything while doing it. (Not at the hospital where I work, anyway.)
