To "logical"| people: Why do you people reject fantasy and imagination so much from your lives?

...especially when you think that everything we see around us began from an individual's dream...in order for us to keep going and living, we use fantasy as part of our everyday reality. One person is dreaming to become an architect...another one is dreaming to become the creator of "The Lord of The Rings", another boy was dreaming to create "Star Wars", another little boy called Steven Spielberg, used to dream as a child that one day a UFO would descend and take him to a magical World...(this is how E.T. was created) others dreamed of becoming chefs etc. etc. So, why do you shun dreaming from your lives so passionately and claim to be realists when fantasy is a part of reality? And the result of this way of thinking?gradually transforming yourselves into robots, submissive to other people's plans and exploitation..."because as you may put it: Life is hard and we have to adapt to it" the sad thing is: You are the ones who make it hard...

Answer:
"Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that all was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes, and make it possible."

Children are innocent until they are corrupted with logic. Anything is possible until you stop believing.
I don't know any "logical" people that have rejected dreams or fantasies. A logical person takes their dream and logically figures out what steps to take to achieve it. Cell phones exist because a logical person took the dream of Star Trek communicators and figured out how to make it work.
I know! I hate when people are like that. They have no imagination at all. It sucks. Albert Einstein said that ''Imagination is more important than knowledge''. I totally agree.
Because people are afraid of the unknown.
absolutely fabulous question worthy of many stars.

because we have become hardened at the reality of life that has been thrust upon us because we don't take advantage of the opportunity to dream as we once did as kids. if you don't visualize and do other such activities (life wheels/collages/journaling our best life scenario) we simply receive the life that others decide for us and then we spend our time bitching about it and becoming more hardened "realists."

Good for you for asking this question. I believe you will inspire the many people who will read it here to take back control over their destinies with something that they possessed all along...their imaginations.

THANK YOU FOR A REALLY GREAT QUESTION THAT HAS WOKEN ME UP.

Grandest of luck to you.
I think you got the definition wrong. "Realists" do not reject dreaming. They simply call it by a different name; a goal. The difference here is also the way they set their goals. Realists always set goals that they deem do-able. This of course is determined by their confidence, ambition and other logic-calculating factors.

There is a HUGE difference between plain cloud-castle building and setting goals that they can actually achieve.

Basically, there thee is no point lashing out at these people just cause they view things differently. The world needs both the dreamers n the logic types TOGETHER. The dreamers cause sometimes the cloud castles they build do become real (and cause they are simply more fun) n the logic types to get things done when the cloud-castles remain dreams
Logical people are a group of usually highly intelligent or gifted individuals they view the world as consisting of patterns with a cause and effect type relationship..IE. if I do it "this way" then "that" will happen.
This type of life experience comes from consistent parenting.

These people dream of achievements just like everyone else the only difference is they can actually see the steps required to fulfil their dream and are more focused as they know from past experience anything they do (step by step) they always get there.

All the people you have mentioned are gifted individuals with a dream and talent and the life experiences and personality traits to make those dreams come to fruition.

People who sit and dream of doing things but never actual do anything about it are as you say just dreamers.
We believe that logic will save us from hurt and dream and fantasy will only lead to vulnerability.

We should all take on a little of both, as sometimes logic gets you through the toughest times, it has for me.

It's a choice at the end of the day, I would rather have lots of dreams come true and a little disappointment, then to live all my life never reaching for anything.
Because logic is the direct oppsite to fantasy and imagination! Some people prefer to have direct fact, ie logic, in front of them instead of fantasy worlds which help no one. Fantasy and imagination will help a microscopic portion of the populace into jobs. Logic and reasoning will help everyone else. With the exception of people like Spielberg and Lucas, everyone who lets fantasy and imagination take a central role GROW UP!
But fantasy and imagination are logical in themselves, since they are indeed natural aspects of the human psyche.

But in my view the onus is on "mystics" to justify their world view not "logical people". Mystics claim there are unseen forces and realms in life, but how does one know for sure? I think it's human nature to be inquisitive and people in general don't naturally abide by mysterious things. Many people in their lifetime will, for example, question whether God exists and this is perfectly natural since humans are always looking for answers.

The thing is man is a sapient being and an inherent part of sapience is the means to reason and judge. Because of this reasoning ability, we cannot help but be analytical and question the world around us. I do feel though that logic and mysticism often depends upon one's personality, so one perhaps is not inherently better than the other, as such.
