Answer:
Hi, sorry to hear your brother is feeling so bad. The following steps should eliminate (or at least significantly reduce) his panic attacks and give hhim a different perspective on his dreams:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks, OCD and anxiety etc. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can speak to your doctor about taking a course or you can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. You can get free downloads if you put "progressive muscle relaxation" into Google (e.g. lots of universities have them as free downloads)

With each step practise makes perfect. (i.e. practise the steps every day, not just when you are feeling bad). I hope he feels better soon. Best of luck!
dreams do not predict the future. its highly unlikely he's gonna get stabbed. dreams are usually how we process info taking in through the last few days, when he had a panic attack he may well of thought he was dying, this manifested itself in his dreams.
Dreams do not predict the future. It more of what he thinks about or suppressed thoughts.
tell him don't worry because elders said that if u dream you will die your life will be longer. also try to explain him that not all dream are becoming true or it's not realistic by the way.
Just tell him to forget it . Dreams have no meaning at all .
a panic attack is caused by the fight or flight response, usually provoked when a person feels out of control or in danger. dreaming of being stabbed or hurt in any way shows feelings of being out of control of a situation, or feelings of fear.
i would say the two go hand in hand, he is obviously having a tough time and it is manifesting itself in panic attacks and dreams of fear and attack. he is not having a premonition. maybe he needs to have a bit of counselling to get out what is bothering him and find stratagies to deal with the panic attacks.
He need to be very careful and look at the people he associates with. Sometimes dreams are a warning. A counselor could help him work this out much better.
I think we all once had strange dreams... felt from a building or were eaten by a crocodile or something like this!
And with 16 these things are totally normal...
Some more, some less, but for sure nothing to worry about!
With 16 its kind of exciting... or cool.....
Tell him not to worry about the dream. It probably means nothing. I once had a drem about being stabbed repeatedly in the stomach. I could feel the pain. I later realised I had a slight infection in my belly button which was actually ccausing a mild pain, which my brain translated into stabbing in a dream.

Although I think here, although what you call a 'silly' fight at home may not have seemed silly to him. There is obviously something worrying him. I think the dream was more a symptom of the problem rather than the cause. I would suggest talking to him to try and get to the bottom of what is upsetting him. And be supportive and gentle. Just because you don't think something is a big deal doesn't mean it isn't to him. Try to see things from his perspective.
dreams aren't predictions. Dreams are thoughts, fears, ideas. And hes afraid to die.
Although dreams are not predictions they can dictate someones state of mind. I think his recent panic episode accompanying these dreams suggest that he is very worried about something and has gotten himself into trouble that he feels he cannot control.
It is a sad reflection of our society today but knife carrying is a real concern between our teenagers, and that, unfortunately is how they are dealing with their troubles.
I would try to talk to him to see if he will open up and share with you his troubles he may be in real fear of a knife attack from someone he knows and feels it is inevitable if this problem is not sorted out. It may be bullying or he could owe money or he may know something bad about someone or he may have done something bad himself. But anything can be sorted out.
When things are shared and open into a protective non-judgemental supportive situation his problem may well have a solution that will ease his mind and bring the family closer.
Debates are about whether dreams predict the future, give hints about it or have alternative meanings.

I think this dream represents how resourceful your brother is in finding solutions to problems, and also under pressure or in difficult situations.

His fear is probable based on how realistic the dream was and how painful and scary it would be if it came true.
