As you age, why does time seem to pass so quickly?

As a child you are busting to get to 16, then 18, those years really seem to drag on. Then you hit 32, then suddenly you're 37. Why does time seem to move so much faster?

Answer:
We have more things to occupy the mind. We have more adult things and more responsibilities and tend to add more all the time. Also, as you age even more, you will find that the mind will slow due to age. It takes you longer to do things. Therefore, it takes you two days to do what you could do in one day or as a teen--you could dream in one hour. lol Just my opinion and experience.
children want to be grown up, to do what they want
then they grow up, and realize they can't do all they want
then they realize they are aging, growing old and want to be young again
c'est la vie
time is relative

the more things you have to do, the faster time passes and vice verse

so maybe when one is older, more work, faster time movement (in the persons observation)

mood is also a variable; a person doing something that one likes will find that time moves faster compared to a person who hates the thing ones doing so, (to the person) time moves slower
As you get older you start to realize that you won't live forever and that if you don't' have a reason for your existence life can be very depressing. AS we get older we also realize that life is shorter than we would like and that we have to make every moment count. As children we don't' have an idea of old or that time is fleeting. My fifteen year old thinks that my 28 year old and 32 year old daughters are old. When she refers to me she says that I'm almost a senior citizen and I'm not 52 yet until next month. If my mother asks her does she consider my mother old (my parents are in their 80's) my daughter tells her very politely that she's ages well like good cheese or wine. HaH she knows who she can call old and who she can't/
but seriously she really doesn't think about dying or thinking past high school.
Because now you want it to slow down, now your counting the days..
Unfortunatly some get physically, sexually abuse & torture at young age which is a very damaging experience when they wanted to escape from it but feel like time is just stuck there. So when they get old they may find other happy children and feel like they have missed something. That's why they feel like time is so quick.
I'm 44 and totally agree with you. Time does seem to pass faster the older you get.I think one reason is because we don't pay as much attention to the days like we used to. It seems to me that my girls should still be babies not one having a baby of her own. Life goes by too quickly it seems.
i guess it's like the days of the week.By Wednesday the week is nearly finished or like a rollercoaster,It's slow going up but when you reach the top,it's all downhill from then on.
