Why do we often forget our dreams when we wake up?

Answer:
Because you have hundreds of dreams while youre in deep sleep and you inevitably only remember bits and peices of a select few. Researchers claim that dreams are just like a "screen saver" of your brain, neurons firing off while you are dormant.
The part of your brain that stores long term memories shuts down when we sleep - so we can't remember them.
i donno it happens to me tho
becuz wen we had them we were in a sub-conscious state and dreams only last and average of a few seconds during the night
You only remember your dreams if you wake up during a certain stage in your sleep cycle.
Yes u forget but it comes back to you during the day.
most of our dreams take place during REM sleep, which only lasts 2 to 3 minutes, while dreams seem like they last all night they are just taking place within REM, we are most likely to forget them.
because there are not ment for you to remmeber i guess
Some people should write them down right away if they want to remember them.

Sometimes, we do, then there are time we don't. I notice a couple of dreams, I had last week involved my Mom and one of my Sister, and they are both deceased. I remember it very well. I hope that they were trying to tell me that they are fine. Where they are up in heaven.
Its simple its not acually a memory its just chemicals mixing to make images and since its not a memory more a less a figmint it gets stored in short term.
well there's the whole ego id superego thing.
then there's the subconscious to conscious thing.
then there's the dreams are the mind trying to work things out when your not ready to do it awake ..
many theories.
all theories.

could be you just weren't awake enough to remember!
It is just because some dreams, are too short or weird to remember.
We dream many different dreams during the night. Usually the ones we remember are the ones that we have right before we wake up. It is a good idea to write them down right away if you want to remember them.
Dreams last for seconds and most of the time are fleeting thoughts
