How can I learn to control my emotions?

I am emotionally weak.Because of this weakness,sometimes I find it very hard to behave properly in some conditions.When a circumstances passes,because of my reaction/behaviour in that circumstances i have no option but a feeling of repentance afterwards.How can I control my emotions and learn to behave properly in any given circumstances.My behaviour must not be governed by emotions

Research says that exercise and also yoga helps stabalise your emotions. So try this and it should help. good luck
A psychologyst or join your local Anger management group or Conflict resolution group etc.

imagine yourself in any situation that is likely to trigger an emotional response and practice how you will react to what happens

concentrate on imagining yourself both controlled and composed
There are many ways how to control your emotions, to wit:
a. read books on how to control emotion
b. be mature,think maturely.
c. join programs on emotion/anger management.
d. be self confident.
e. control your words.when you are mad do not speak.
f. think think think a lot. think for others feeling,be considerate
g. have a yoga program,for self discipline
All these suggestions will not work out if you will not start it on your own.what i have are suggestions only.Gooddluck and Godbless you.

This is the truth. Are you ready for the truth? If you are in denial, you will not believe the truth. The truth is that the only way to get rid of all your little and big issues about yourself is to pray for forgiveness of your weaknesses. The trick is to ask for one individually to be forgiven at a time. If you want peace, ask for forgiveness, give them to the Lord to remove, and have faith they are being removed. You do not dwell on the faults that you pray to be removed. One day, you will notice that you are not doing that issue any longer. Thank the Lord for removing so many sins that prevented me from better serving Him.
Realize that emotions are not a problem, they are not an adverse feeling in the human psyche. But when you react to a situation based upon your emotions repeatedly that is not necessary to do so, like a defense response or avoid a life-threatening circumstance, you will feel remorse later because you are a thinking person, and the logical response was there but the habit of letting emotion go first has to be controlled. I said "controlled" not to be eliminated or avoided. You need emotions to determine if something is truly positive or not, whether it requires your time and energy and to what point. But just realize that your own rationale and logic are still working and pause to let those in first. Emotions can get you more problems simply by their ability to be "felt" whereas an idea or plan isn't so stimulating. Remember, emotions trigger adrenalin or cause sedation within your body and have a lot of 'pull.' But personally, I admire my big emotions but have learned to keep them in reserve for better purposes.

well to b frank enuf ... controlling ur emotions is not really tough if u really wanted it . the main reason y u were not able to control them is u like them . makes sense ??

u r basically an emo person nd u hate it ..

i can give u a clue as to how to do it ... if u beleive in God . think abt him for the next 10 sec or so wenever u fell u r going emo . i mean every damn emotion ... frm happiness to sadness... frm love to hate .. evry inch of emotion ... ur anger mainly .. just think of smthing else for tht moment ... think God / the person u love the most nd sure who wud never leave u ..... if u have neither think abt me who ans ur ques ....

i promise u it will work .. u need to learn to control them b4 u do furthe r errors . control evrything including ur happinesss... it wrked 4 me .. am sure it will for u

i am not asking u to b a mechanical person .. i am just urging u control it for a span of 10sec - 1 min depending on the strength of ur emotion ...then see ... the world is better than it was before tht goddamn 10 sec ... these 10 sec will make ur happiness more enjoyable . ur sadness less painful . ur anger leaves u without a trace ..

When you are out in your emotions, just be silent do not express, do not make any action, jus silence for some moments, it is better you immediately leave that situation, keep some distance, time is great healing factor, so you are to heal your emotions, right!
See this is the general problem of everyone no need to get tensed about it .Emotional persons are actually said to be the real persons because they don't have anything in their minds i.e to be kept hidden what ever is their is clear like an open book so i feel that their is no point of learning to control your emotions.
