I don't know what to do anymore...i think i am psychologically burnt out!?
i am an international student in LA, doing my master's degree. i am so unhappy with what i am studying, but it is too late to change - i'm almost done. i have been stuck in stupid 20hour/week low pay jobs for the past 3 years; total waste of time. i am also not enjoying my current training which is required for me to get my degree...
above all this, i am very lonely. i don't feel ppl around me understand me...so i have no one to talk to about my problems. i have tried talking to a career counselor and a regular counselor, but they both depressed me even more.
i feel i just wanna sit in a corner in my room and not do anything...
i do not meet criteria for depression or anything that serious.but i am totally burnt out!
i'm beginning to feel like i'm giving up...
what can i do?
Answer:
what you should do is to change your perspective on life...you must have short-term and long-term goals...and always do what you like and not what others tell or advise you to do...the advice of others are very often wrong if they don't know your real abilities and shortcomings...
what can you give to this world?remember,if you think like a giver and not always a taker, you'll succeed in life...
you are an intelligent guy and perhaps there are many opportunities under your feet...the grass is not greener there.
life is either a daring adventure or nothing...you need great challenges to lead an exciting life...
hope that will help you!!
Your life isn't over if you aren't happy with your degree. Take some time and think about what you really want. Don't worry about what you have done in the past. Just picture what you want your life to be like and start making it happen. It sounds like maybe you need some good friends or a significant other in your life. Surround yourself with people and things that make you happy. You can always get another degree in the area you like after this one. Be proud of your accomplishments. You've done a lot of good work.
You need to finish your degree! That's the most important thing right now. You've come this far, it's just a big further. You can't quit now!
Be good to yourself. Put some time aside for just you and go for walks, or do things you like to do. Spend time with friends, that's very important. And try to relax when you can. Exercise is also helpful when you're depressed.
After you get your master's, things will be completely different. You will have good job options, you'll have a challenging career not some going-nowhere part-time job. You can move into a nicer place and spend some money having a good time because you earned it. Just a little further!
It's time to find out who and what you really are. Do the following to get started:
Everyday, starting tonight, right before you go to bed go to a mirror and look deep into your eyes(not at your eyes) and tell your Self "I love you unconditionally, and I honor who you are and what you are".
Also do the same process as soon as you wake up.
Your Life will have shifted within 30 days.
It works!
"Be happy. When you don't have what you want, want what you have. MAKE DO. That is a well-kept secret of contentment."
