I'm meeting with my school psychologist tomorrow..?
I'm supposed to meet with my school psychologist tomorrow, and I'm really nervous. Has anyone done this before and know what the meeting is going to be like?
Thanks.
Answer:
I agree with Farien. It's not the principal's office. Counselors are there to help.
Just be honest and talk to them. Often just verbalizing things helps to make things better.
Yeah, hope the avi looks better tomorrow afternoon. Good luck.
It's no big deal. The counselor will just ask you about how you're feeling, things you're going thru, and will let you be as talkative as you want. They tend to be very understanding, honest, good people.
Why does your avatar look so utterly depressed?
It really depends on why you are meeting with him/her. Did you initiate the meeting, or did the school, or did your parents?
That's really the only way you'll be able to get a solid answer, what is the GENERAL (you don't have to get too specific) purpose of the meeting?
Regardless, it's normal to feel a bit nervous. He/she is trained to deal with people in your age group, and so they'll know how to approach you. They MAY ask you some very tough questions...sometimes even asking someone "Why are you here today?" Or "how can I help you?" is a hard question. Because, if you're depressed, or are even stressed out about your home situation (i'm just giving an example) it is never easy to tell someone that you don't know.
Just take it slow and take a few deep breaths.
Don't be afraid, all they do is read your palm and tell you your future.
Relax. Your psychologist is really there to help.
You'll have a chance to dig to the bottom of what's troubling you, and someone to help you interpret your feelings. Take advantage of the opportunity, it can make a big difference in your life!
Observe the psychologist..is the person really interested inresolving your problem, or is he/she only using you as an instrument in resolving his/her own conflicts. They are also people like you, who have their own problems. Sometimes, they also consult their colleagues, even psychiatrists. Just relax and take the meeting as a learning situation. Ask your troubles. Demand explanations, especially if you are a paying client. \be courteous in you gestures and verbalizations. Don't be afraid. I've never heard of a psychoilogist who has bitten a client. Good luck.
