What things does a human do by instinct, not by watching their parents?

e.g someone putting their head in their hands, when things are not going well,is that instinct or by watching their parents?

Answer:
breathe, cry, blink - all the responses we can't help are instinct but most actual behaviour is learnt...
Being gay! My son is gay and neither his dad or me are so i guess that must be the ultimate answer! x
watching babies will give you most clues. they have so many reflexes... things they were born just knowing how to do.
breathe, sneeze
breathing

wrinkling your nose when you smell something bad

the startle response - blinking your eyes and drawing your head slightly back when startled. ( I have even seen my dogs do that!)
Most behaviour is learned, including the one you state. Babies use instinctive behaviour to suck and to cry.
That would be a learned behavior. Flinching is an instinct. While falling you will put your hands out to grab something, that is also an instict.
erm...cry, smile, breath, eat and drink (in some form)...erm..other genetically coded things are there as well...like..rolling the tongue without being aware of it..etc...
The things you are referring to are known as reflexes...
We are also fitted with a sympathetic nervous system which instinctually alerts us to potential harm or threats.
Crying, coughing, laughing are all not learned either...
Blinking, Breathing, Flinching when in danger, screaming, putting hands out when falling, automotive bodily functions, eating (baby will automatically seek the breast within minutes of birth), holding breath under water,
crying, smiling, giggling, peeing, pooping, sexual urges, eating sweet food, drinking... the list goes on.
The international look of disgust. Happiness and the range of emotions.
We all look the same regardless of what we're taught or where we live.
I`ve always wondered - if no one explained to us how to do it(S*X) Would we be able to just work it out?
Animals can, but maybe we have evolved out of that instinct.

I don`t think we could(very well anyway!)
most things are picked up off parents nursery teathers and peers
blink
laugh
grip
cry
get mad
All creatures have an instinct to
1 survive
and
2 breed
The action of offspring watching and following their parents is actually instinct, as well as how we respond to our fears. In this case, a typical person will go pale in the face, their knees will buckle, and their heart rate quickens. In earlier times, when humans would be confronted with a predator, the paling would be to drain blood from all vulnerable parts to minimize bleeding should an accident occur, the buckling knees would be further protection of vital parts, mainly the delicate stomach area, and the quickened pulse would pump blood to the limbs to prepare for a fight or to evade the predator.

Further, some other things a human will do on instinct is to react with violence to an unfavourable situation. This is irresistible to younger children, and earlier human life resorted to physical exertion for frustration and settled confrontations by means of fighting. Humans will also attempt to avoid flying objects or flinch, a means of evading attacks by predators or other savage life. This is why most people will turn away or twitch, or at least blink if you even pretend to punch them, even with early notice.

As for finer actions, such as putting one's head in their hands, it is instinct for most cases, to obscure one's face and real emotion, but others find equivalents to carry out, such as pounding a wall, yet another hard-wired action.
