Please help me Understand?
Answer:
Structuralism is basically the earliest form of "official" psychological theorization done by Wundt and Titchener. Its basic premise is that a psyche can be broken up into components, much like an atom or a word (since this particular school was sort of born out of linguistics), and that each of these components might be given to analysis. Basically, every experience is one of these components which can further be broken down into smaller parts. To clarify, if you percieve something, that perception can be further broken down into component pieces based upon organs that percieve them and their individual responses. This applies not just to perceptions, but also to memories, emotion, and virtually anything else that has to do with the human experience. The reason it's so damn confusing is because it is trying to objectively quantify something that is not only subjective but is not easily analyzed in the moment.
