Strategies for overcoming completion anxiety?
I've been carrying some baggage throughout my life related to completion anxiety.
I have problems starting and finishing projects. If I jump into a project I can usually run with it to completion, but going the whole route of designing, building, testing and deploying some programming project I really have issues with.
I find it extremely difficult to "just do it". I keep getting caught up in the details of a project and wanting to apply a warped perfectionism to it, and eventually my motivation fizzles, and I end up procrastinating and missing my goals.
This doesn't apply just to programming projects but to a lot of facets of my life. I can quite literally sabotage my own efforts by getting caught up in making corrections as I go and eventually deciding to abandon a goal altogether out of frustration.
Constructive suggestions on how to conquer this would be appreciated. In short, in this way I'm my own worst enemy.

hey, my long lost relative!
I get lost in the details, i think because i enjoy the details.
And i have big time trouble in completion, even completing a phase. I am pretty sure that I think my work has to be perfect, but i know it won't be- it can't be. So long as it is not yet finished, if someone criticizes my work/the project, or says that i didn't include something important, i can say 'but it isn't finished yet. i just haven't gotten to that part yet."
that isn't advice, but maybe it can help a little to know you aren't alone.
You probably dread completing something because deep inside you fear it won't work. ~
