Does anyone else sometimes get the need to just spend 5 mins alone, while out in public?
Answer:
Absolutely!
I have the same problem.
The best thing you can do, is talk to an understanding friend about this, and explain how you need time to "recharge your batteries" as such.
The thing you seem to be describing is introversion. It is one of two personality types, extraversion and introversion. Basically, introversion means you get your energy from time alone and reflection and focus upon the world inside your own head. Extraversion is quite the opposite, where people get exhausted from being alone and need social contact to be excited.
Message me some time, you seem interesting and perhaps we could help each other get through this?
All the best,
love Emma.
Oh absolutely. Im in college too and when I have to be there all day long Im desperate by lunch to like just have a few minutes of privacy. It takes a lot of effort to be in public all day long and to just sit comfortably and hideously for a few minutes is so needed.
nothing like flicking the bean whilst the iron is hot oooh. ;-) we know what your doing
it's called sensory overload. And yes it is frequently I just want to listen to the quiet!!
Oh yeah! I havent been out in public for a week, and I love to spend time on my own. Don't worry it's not weird
you're an only child.. it happens. Parents are horrible people, just forgive them and wait until inheritance
i do, if it gets to crowded i have to leave because i get too nervous and don't like lots of noise, i like to spend some time on my own!!
pretty normal.. well, i do it... theres nothing like silence...and its so rare...
its gift so precious money cant buy it... we all need to get some peace and quiet...
It dosn't sound like a terrible problem, i think everyone needs some me time. its cool, don't worry bout it
some people love to be in a big crowed with lots of noise and people but some people aren't with all the commotion. I guess it all depends on how often you're doing this locking you're self in the bathroom. Some people have high anxiety. I know for me if I am under stress I can't stand to go to the mall when it's crowed i fell like i can't breathe or have no penitence to deal with the noise.
Sounds like you are hypersensitive, and easily over stimulated.
This could be a precursor to something more serious.
How long has this been happening?
Is it just because you are not use to being in a crowded place?
Are you from a small town?
That might explain it, however if you enjoyed being in crowds before and suddenly it's too much then you should go see your school counselor.
You probably just need to take some time off.
How about taking only a half load next semester, no summer courses, and no winter sessions.
Rest your nerves for a bit. College degrees mean nothing if you can't handle people well.
Good luck.
Hi Claire i agree but living in london it's impossible
Yep this is normal for some people. You probably just notice stuff more than most people so you need a break from it all more often. This is nothing to be worried or ashamed of. However, you might want to try to learn some sort of coping strategies because when you have to get a job it may be more difficult to take breaks like this.
All the best.
