When was the last time you really went out on a limb for the sake of your own happiness?

What happened?

What's stopping you from doing it now?
.

Answer:
When I talked my boss into giving me a project I had little experience in, but was committed to learning. He agreed as a "stretch assignment" and I worked my bu^^ off on it. It was stressful, I worked longer hours for no additional money, and I delivered ahead of schedule, the process I mapped is still being used, I got a promotion, and now am regularly asked to help outside my specialty.

Not all advances come from promotions, lateral opportunities sometimes abound, so we need to ensure we look at the big-picture.
I, personally, don't approach happiness in that manner. I don't really seek it.

I just try to completely enjoy the present moment, no matter the activity. If I happen to squeeze some happiness out of it, I gladly accept the gift.
