What is more important to you and why? What do you think could get someone farther in life?

Common Sense- Hands down! I have known some incredibly smart people who are total idiots when it comes to common sense in the real world. It makes a person more balanced to have good common sense and an adequate knowledge of facts.

help with homework
buy a home
buy life insurance
invest your money

Common sense comes from experience, it is not innate, so it often leads in the same direction as books which are nothing more than documented experience. People who have both common sense and book smarts and the knowledge that the interaction of the two entails are best prepared for life.
