Do subliminal images affect our NEWS and VIEWS in America?

(look at the knockout type in the upper left corner and then look at the main image... which the human eye does automatically without thinking about it too much...)
There is a growing trend in America of magazines saying one thing in their articles and telling an entirely different story with their pictures and layouts.
This is known as "subliminal imagery" and Americans are very susceptible to it.
When we stand in line at Checkout counters, the periodicals that are propped up around us leave "burns" in our minds... we don't remember exactly what we saw on them but we vaguely remember the words in knockout type and the main image... we also get the headline of one article confused with the content of another.

Answer:
..The visual or graphic aspect impacts on how we feel about content. For example, a gray background instead of a yellow background will affect how we feel about the page.
But it's possible to make too much of subliminal messages. In order for us to recall something, it has to be in long-term memory. And a perception will never make it into long-term memory unless we focus on it consciously and think about it. It's just how long-term memory in the brain works.
And since we don't notice subliminal messages, we can think about them. So their effect may be real, but it's minimal at best. If politicians and advertisers want to affect us, they will need to do so directly, getting us to pay attention and think about the content.
