How do i get rid of shyness?

I don't know if it's really shyness... but whenever i talk to someone new or do something new, i get anxious and very very very nervous. What do I do to get rid of this?

I use to get nervous too when I was going to try something new. But then I realized that I am going to do it anyways so why waste the time being nervous about it. As for shyness I don't think htere is a cure except for just talking and getting over it.
It takes growing or growth of your self esteem. I use to be this way but after so many years I can get up in a group and talk. It takes time and age to get over shyness. First find a topic which to talk upon and get the courage to talk without fumbling. Rehearse and get over that nervous feeling.

The only way I can suggest to you is from my own experience. I was very shy when I was young all through school, and also my teens. And one day I thought of attending a drama school where I would have to face people. Be in front of people where I could not escape and do what I had to do. I remember the first time I went up on stage, I was shaking from head to toes, but I did get up on that stage and did that piece I had to do! The shakes lasted long after I was off the stage but I refused to let that get to me!

The second thing that helped me a lot was to find work waiting tables in a restaurant, so I HAD to go to the people and talk to them!... And it worked!... My first time on stage at the age of 48, and performing on stage for 30 years now!...
So I tried one to one, and facing a group of people.My suggestion to you would be to try something like this. It might work for you too! And so much rewards allached to meeting new people! Have a positive approach and never give up no matter what happens! Good luck to you and go get them!
Just keep talking to new people and just keep going out and doing things new, it’s the only way. I use to be incredibly shy, and still am a bit, the only way I have been able to fix it is to just keep throwing myself out there, and I hated it. I was so shy I use to avoid talking to people completely and often just hid away. Yet I also hated being this way, people kept telling me to get out and be more social and just go for it. I got angry over this because I have tried to talk and and I have tried to be more social, but I cant help it I just automatically freeze up and if I even attempted to talk I make weird odd embarrassing noises or put my sentence in the wrong way, I just couldn’t do it.

But yeah time past and things remained the same I was too embarrassed to talk to anyone other than my close friends and family, this brought me down in many other areas too. And I didn’t like feeling this way I guess it got to a point where I realized my only choice is to just keep ,trying I will try, and I will have a go, you really have to talk your self into this confidence. and it was hectic for me at first, I was really shy, so it did take me quite a while to really feel the confidence I couldn't help thinking I'm making a fool out of myself what's the point, but you just have to look at the good side, your out there, your talking your having a go that’s all that matters, who cares what other people think.

So be patient and just keep having a go, try not to worry what other people think. Just look at how your feeling and believe your going to over come this and become a stronger more confident person. It is a bit rough to start off with, if you are as shy as me, but you will soon see just how better and easer things will get the more you keep with it.
