Should I give up my position?

Alright, so I was the editor of the publication team for a year and I'm entering my junior college level, wiser, and more responsible. I admit previously, the newsletters contained a lot of things that people may consider unwise and reckless, despite the fact that my teacher has checked it (she's not perfectionist) and this year I am determiend to make a change if I'm the editor.

but some people, including some of my friends would want a change in the editor. They are voting for one of them, someone who had just gone for a self-improvement workshop and people think he becomes better. But, he is also voting for himself and is so keen to become the editor. But, he is not a top student and is not the best student and is not even an up-to-standard one.

What should I do? Give my position? I'm the number one, and is one of the 'busiest' learner in the campus.

Answer:
Don't resign. Instead, state your case with clarity and conviction and then gracefully accept the outcome of the vote.
Keep trying for the position. Why would you give up just because someone else is running. You don't know what the outcome is until you try. If you don't you will regret it. You always have to fight for what you believe in.
