My moral values are determined by what I read in the bible. I think most people in the U.S. were raised under it's influence if not directly by it's teachings.
Character I think was best defined as what you do when no one is looking. In order to build character you must have some form of values to measure yourself against. So, in that respect, they are very important.
My moral values are where I draw the line and decide that anything on the other side of that line is compromising my integrity. This is important in my life because it keeps me focused on what really matters, and for the most part I've found it to be faith, family, friendships, and education, in that order.
Character building is just as important, if not more so, because it often helps define my moral convictions and changes my perspective on the world. I think the best way to grow is to experience pain, not that I enjoy pain, but I can see beyond how it makes me feel to how much stronger it makes me. My greatest periods of character growth came after periods of intense emotional pain. I've kind of learned to embrace it and accept it as a catalyst to better myself.
Moral values are very impt to a person's life. Children who attend elite, prestigious schools, often dint attend moral education lessons as the teachers decided that academic excellence was more impt, as a result, people with high qualifications are unfeeling, almost inhumanly cold. Including myself, sad to say.
If I were to become education minister, I would make it mandatory for all children to attend moral ed classes till the age of 18 and make it compulsory for students in elite schools to attend 4 hrs of moral ed classes each week, as these ppl wld be groomed to become the leaders of the nation tomorrow.
