Balancing my checkbook every month. to the penny.
Not putting my wallet in my pocket until the waiter/ress brings me back my credit card.
Maybe these are more like obsessions or compulsions, not addictions.
I have a hard time coming up with an addiction that is positive - when you understand the nature of addiction (more than just a habit).
Runners high....
Hey, becoming an olympic athelete or neurosurgeon requires the same obessive thinking, devotion of time, etc.

Is this a good addiction? it seems good to me but..
I have a very addictive personality. I could become addicted to just about anything. Back around the first part of this year I started back playing strategy games with a new group of guys and gals here in Shreveport and now I'm up to 3 or 4 times per week. I'm out of work right now so I'm not hurting anyone by participating, but that is an addiction.
And my most recent addiction is, and I've actually referred to it as an addiction before you asked this question, FunQA.com. I'm hooked, I've always enjoyed providing people with my thoughts on many subjects and now I have a forum that rewards, even the rewards are limited, me for my insights. That is pretty awesome, I think!
Honestly by definition an addiction is not healthy. Any addiction brings about obsessive and compulsive thoughts and behaviors. The person is constantly thinking about his or her next fix and gears their life toward finding the fix regardless of the affects on the rest of his/her life. An addiction is used to block out feelings so any addiction is not healthy. The person chooses to focus on the addicted behavior rather than deal with the feelings triggering it. Even if you try to pick something that is positive like exercise, it is not healthy if it is an addiction. Many people with eating disorders are addicted to exercise and are using it for unhealthy reasons. If it is an obsession and compulsion, then it can't be healthy.
ummm... no, i'll leave this one alone... what they said...
An addiction is an ugly and life-threatening disorder. How can one be so ignorant?
