As in, with children? Well it's really the same with pets. Start early and remain consistent and realistic. They'll make mistakes but punishment and setting a good example are key. Too many kids get into high school with no sense of right and wrong or any discipline because they don't see it at home. Then teachers and every other grown up on the planet is outraged at the behavior. It has to start at home, when the kids are little, period.
You need to seek out friends and acquaintances who are disciplined. Their everyday examples of how they handle themselves in various situations will point you to the processes required to live a disciplined life.
You cannot be disciplined when everyone around you is not.
