For person centred care what things would a person derive comfort from?
Answer:
I 'm not sure how it would relate o dementia, but I'll offer you what I can recall about peson centered therapy off the top of my head.
Most of this comes from Rogers:
Accurate Empathy is the most important skill that the clinician must possess. The ability to put oneself in the place of the client and to see and understand their experience of the world as they do.
The Relationship is the Cure - the agent responsible for therapeutic change is the client/therapist relationship. Genuine and unguarded interaction with another human is conducive to personal growth. The therapist also models desirable behaviors and attitudes.
Neurosis is other people's Values - Rogers said that we experience problems when we habitually evauate ourselves based on the values and expectations of others. He said each person consists of a real self and an ideal self. If the difference between these two selves was too great, nurosis would ensue.
That's all i can think of, hope it helps.
