Floating through life??

I constantly feel like I am just going through the motions in life. I always forget to do little things like help around the house, everyday tasks like shaving, remembering things to take with me... it's crazy. Why am I such a space case?? It seems like I cant focus on anything and it drives me nuts. It affects alot of the facets of my life. I take Ginseng, Ginko Biloba- none of it helps. I can be staring right at something and forget what I was doing. Does anyone have any helpful insight as to what the heck is going on with my focus?? I want to be able to address the important things in my life and stop taking every day for granted!! I'm really tired of floating aimlessly through each day!!

Answer:
I'm going to go out on a limb and believe you are an introvert. (I'm not saying "shy" either.) An introvert is someone who lives in their head more than they do out in the "real" world. This kind of person only pays just enough attention to the outer world to get by. Also known as a daydreamer.

I am one at times.

The trick is to learn to direct your attention consciously and stop letting your thoughts carry your attention away from the here and now. This requires that you develop a greater awareness of not just your environment, but in how you are affected by your own mind and thoughts.

Try learning to meditate.

It will take time and practice, but it can help you develop more conscious control of directing your attention.
It sounds like you might be depressed. Have you always been like this or is it a fairly recent development?

It sounds like maybe your depressed about something some times people get sad for no reason or something is missing out of your life. or you just need to go to the doc and have a check-up your blood may have something to do with it .
Therapy once a month doesn't sound like enough. I an now suffering a case of depression and had one in 2001. To treat both of these cases I have been given prescriptions for antidepressants. They take about three months to work completely, but they do work and I feel improvement after the first month.
