Why do we stick our tongues out when working on math problems?

I have yet to see that! And am an engineer! I see most ppl close their eyes as if they are trying to visualize something or concentrate real hard... I have some people's eyes gaze upwards to to the sides or even the floor! Is it that all my friends are geeks and your friends dogs?

An anthropology professor I had mentioned that speech and fine tool craftsmanship developed together in early man. He seemed to be claiming that language and hand dexterity evolved as a partnership. As the area of the brain adapted to become better at language, humans became better at fine motor movements and vice versa. Maybe the same is true for math; maybe those skills/area of the brain co-adapted with an area of the brain responsible for some oral task. Or this could also be the speech-fine motor movement link I already mentioned.
P.S. I don't stick my tongue out when doing math. I do rest my pen cap on my lower lip though.
