Can you define 'grounded'?
Answer:
It can mean a sense of being in the 'here and now'. For example, sometimes when folk get stressed out or panicky their minds kind of go elsewhere and in effect they are lost in their thoughts.
A technique called 'grounding' can help you to become grounded again and help you to stay grounded. It involves choosing an important object and when you are aware of struggling to get thoughts out or to get out of your thoughts you deliberately take your mind to the object.
You are supposed to take some time to think about what the object says to you and see it as a 'safe house' and bring you back to the here and now. It's kind of two steps forward - one back approach.
Is this what you are looking for in the psychological concept? Grounded is basically a sense of being in reality in the here and now, not just away in the thoughts and theoretical.
Grounded also has other meanings eg a solid base of knowledge or common sense.
Hope this hasn't confused you.

Grounded is a military term for pilots whom , for whatever reason, are not allowed to fly. You might be grounded or not allowed to fly for medical reasons, disciplinary reasons, or whatever. When it comes to parenting, the term means you have just had your wings clipped..or your grounded. Apparently your allowed to use the computer though, you gotta love that.

Equanimity (noun): mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation. Or, in other words, if both your feet are firmly planted you're more likely to be level-headed. :-) Read Rudyard Kipling's poem "If" and you'll get a beautifully written definition: kipling.org.uk/poems_if.htm
I see you have all the usual answers already:
I would guess the dictionary would say being grounded is being physically attached to the earth or confined to a specific area of it. Specifically in relation to the aerospace industry, the word means stopped, blocked or in relation to personnel having their licence to fly either revoked or suspended temporarily.
