Do people who carry sanitizer and use it 12 times a day really get sick less? Or is it mental?
Answer:
It's a deep down mental issue, they have watched too much T.V and now there are crazed with this obsession to feel needy like everyone else so, they've joined the band wagon too. LOL
If that's the only 'obsessive type behavior' they have, leave em alone, it's only a small amount of alcohol.
Really, I would imagine that ppl would get sick less that used hand sanitizer. They probably keep their houses cleaner and therefore exposed to less germs.that is for now. Hand sanitizer and antibactieral soap are the worst things that man ever invented. Germs, over time, are GOING to adapt to these things and they will transform and become immune to them. When that time comes NOTHING will be able to kill germs on surfaces or our hands and we will have another Black Plague.
I am a hand washing, Purell freak. Have not had a cold in 7 years.
yes, they're mental. sounds a little monkish to me
actually, it is thought that they may get sick more!
By washing and sanitizing everything around you, your body is not exposed to bacteria etc. The problem is that your immune system actually benefits from being exposed to these things. It's helps to make it stronger when it has something to fight. So washing constantly can actually be detrimental.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't watsh your hands after using the restroom or something similar, but you shouldn't be doing it after EVERYTHING you touch!
Hand sanitizers are good if you know you're going to be in unsanitary conditions with no opportunity to wash your hands. However, they are far less efficient at killing germs than plain soap and hot water thorough washing. It's true that sanitizers & anti-bacterial soap are a bad thing because they breed resistant bacteria. If you're going to be at a concert with port-a-potties & no sinks, then hand sanitizers are definitely preferable to nothing. But a study showed that hospital personnel who depended on hand sanitizers rather than washing between patients infected a much higher percentage of them than did the hand washers.
Sounds like they are Obsessive Compulsive. They probably get sick more; exposure to germs build up your immune system.
In the past, I thought that repeated use of sanitizer was a symptom of some psychological disorder... UNTIL... I started taking the subway everyday. I have watched men urinate in a corner, then grab the hand rails. I have watched people with respiratory viruses (of whatever sort) sneeze and cough into their hands, then grab the hand rails. I have watched people pick their noses, rub their pink eyes, scratch all sorts of unmentionable parts of their bodies, etc., etc.,etc.
I am not trying to disgust you, but I witness this behavior on a daily basis. I am not a 'germaphobe', but this is too much exposure to the body fluids of others for comfort.
