Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night?
Answer:
..What Poe is saying is that people who let their imagination run free will discover and understand many things that those who do not will not. He's not saying that our experience is but a dream within a dream. Poe didn't think believe that. He may have had a wild imagination, but a good deal of the time he faced the facts like the rest of us.
Still, Poe's point is well taken. That by and large, people should use their imagination more than they do.
Personally, I love Edgar Allen Poe. I think he is a vastly underrated author and poet. However, he was also an alcoholic and drug addict, so I don't take his "dream within a dream" statement too seriously.
sorry! I was miles away
