How do I know that someone sees a colour in exactly the same way as another person?

say if someone saw black as red

Answer:
you can't. unless you somehow got into their psyche from birth till now. even then you wouldn't be able to tell if you are seeing the same color because you are not him and he is not you.
Check your crayon box
You can't as we all see colour differently and we only know what a colour is because we have been told. this is most noticable with coulors such as turquoise. look at the blue/green experiment by Moscovici in 1969

It has tons of information on color theory, and specifics on how the human eye sees color, and the different variations from person to person.
You don't, & that's before you take colourblind people into account.
Every eye preceives color differently. The colors I see are different than the colors you see. However when we are young and learning about colors we begin to associate a particular shade with a certain name. The sky is blue. So now as a child I grow up thinking anything with a similar color to the sky is blue.
You don't know. But the people who are color blind are usually at a loss in the blue green spectre. But a real dark red/maroon may appear as black. But have you heard the expression. What color is the sky in your world?
You know it because our eyes are the same +/-...
Red is Red and Black is Black... because that is what we learned. But I think my black or red is different from yours and that's the same with all the 'colours' (light).... but it still stays black/ red... bit lighter or darker....
Except somebody has eye problems....
This is the 64000 dollar question on perception.

I have often considered this.

Say everybody saw in black and white, one person could see things in an entirely negative (ie black and white reversed) way and as long as they were told that black was called white at birth nobody would ever know that they were actually percieving a totally reversed image.

Language is only usefull in so far as we are certain we are both experiencing the thing described and even then it can let us down because we can never actually be another
yes, you can never really prove that..
It may be true, maby everybody sees a totally different set of colors..
this may be the reason why some people like certain colors and others don't..
I dont think one could tell...
