IDK, I guess it's just that you don't know how much you miss/love something until your not around it anymore.
You didn't indicate how easy it would be to alternate between the two places, but maybe that's what you need to do. Have a home of your own, and visit your family often. You seem ready to be on your own, so maybe that's the best condition for you.
Oh it's called real life and it's bollocks. Living on your own: horrifying responsibility like fixing the toilet and remembering to pay your bills on time, and that sort of lonely feeling when you wake up in the middle of the night to pee and know you're the only one around. Living with your folks: the fuzzy sense of no independence and having to live within the expectations of others. I say, get the hell out--but visit.
