Has anyone sucessfully dated a person with aspbergers?
Answer:
From what I've noticed, I'd say your greatest success will come from dating assertive women. They are more likely to take charge of the relationship. It's good to be honest about the Aspergers so that you can be understood better.
Bill Gates has a form of aspbergers so i would say yes... My best friends son has aspbergers and I would say it would be possible for him to have a relationship he's very compassionate and that special someone is out there for him.
It's Asperger's, there's no b in the word.
A very close friend of mine is doing that, in fact, she's now living with him. Strangely enough, he's an MD but can no longer actively practice because of his condition. I have met him and he's very shy, to the point of being unable to look you in the eye. He's extremely uncomfortable around others and can't wait to find a way to get away from everyone.
It is difficult to deal with persons like this as their inclination is to be quite anti-social.
And though you didn't ask, here's a brief description for others.

Characteristics of Asperger's vary greatly from person to person but often include: intensely focused areas of interest, sensory integration/sensitivity issues, self-stimulating ('stimming') behavior such as rocking, difficulty interpreting facial expressions and other social cues. Positive characteristics have also been observed; these often include: enhanced mental focus, memory, and an intuitive understanding of logical systems, which may manifest itself as talent in mathematics, engineering, sciences, or language.
There is significant controversy over the difference between AS and the broader category of high-functioning autism (HFA). While neither AS nor HFA have universally accepted definitions, most diagnostic manuals distinguish the two according to speech development. Delayed speech indicates HFA; normal onset of speech indicates Asperger's.However, at least one diagnostic guide takes the opposite position; that delayed onset of speech favors a diagnosis of AS.
